High School is a time when Priory students begin making their own choices, polishing their strengths, and looking forward with confidence to their college years. Alumni say the work pays off; in college they feel well prepared.
However as one senior puts it "We work hard, but we have fun, too!"
Two students, one headed for a career in music and the other to a challenging academic life, observed that the Priory has the resources and atmosphere "to allow each person to be the type of student he or she wants to be." While high academic achievement "is a path many students pursue, there is no stigma against those who have other, equally important priorities," they said.
Students work in a diverse community of adults and peers, with people from different backgrounds who approach problems in a variety of ways. As high school students grapple together with everything from an Andes trek on horseback to mastering poetic forms to debating ethics to making their first public presentations, they are challenged to stretch their comfort zones and get ready for the global world they live in. High School years will include many experiences off the campus, and many guests on the campus from other cultures and countries, with experiences vastly different from most students' lives.
