Performing Arts
The Priory community loves a performance! They are a big part of campus life. All Priory students will have opportunities to partake of performing arts in the required curriculum. Students may also pursue their interests more rigorously through a wide range of course choices, activities, and numerous performance opportunities every year.
Music performances annually include Winter and Spring concerts, and three or more "Cookies 'n Classics" evenings, which provide a friendly venue for individuals and smaller ensembles to share their work. Students attend music festivals in most years, and the advanced ensembles are periodically called upon to perform off campus. Small groups such as the current rock, jazz and string ensembles are enjoyed by everyone. Singers and instrumentalists are often enlisted for campus events, such as the Chapel program, the Christmas tea, Admissions Open House, and student-run talent show.
Priory thespians mount three major theatrical open-audition productions each year. (Click on Multimedia Gallery to see Priory performance history.) In addition, Middle school class plays in seventh and eighth grades are performed for parents and other students in the afternoons, and the advanced drama class performs for the public in the evening. Students are well prepared to present musicals with musical theater and individual voice study in the curriculum.
